S&T Police and Information Security would like to remind the campus to be aware that phishing attempts can appear in many forms. The S&T Police received an advertising FAX recently requesting a name, title, email address, business name and address, phone number, cell number, specialty, and signature. This is a social engineering scam commonly used to steal funds through spoofing and business email exchanges. Any such advertising FAX should be put in recycling when you get them. A legitimate business would not rely on FAX’s or cold email’s requesting such information.
