Phishing email attempts have increasingly targeted Missouri S&T email accounts today (Thursday, March 30). The attempts appear to come from a variety of external email accounts and vary in offering job positions for students to having attachments. Students are the primary targets for these attempts. Do not respond or click on any attachment or link. Attachments try and bypass security protection measures. Please delete the email(s) as this phishing attempt has been reported to IT Security. Please note the email(s) originated from an external source and contains warning message in the body of the email. Always verify the sender and that it is a trusted source before opening any links or attachments. All students, faculty and staff are reminded to exercise a healthy skepticism when receiving suspicious emails and follow the proper process to report spam and phishing attempts. IT thanks the many S&T students, faculty and staff who properly reported the phishing attack and did not click the link or enter their information. For assistance or to check the validity of this message, please contact the IT Help Desk by calling 341-4357 (HELP) or submitting a ticket online at help.mst.edu.
