What is Happening?

Missouri S&T is transitioning to a site license for MATLAB & Simulink by MathWorks thanks to the collaborative efforts of the UM System. This transition provides all Missouri S&T students, faculty, and staff with access to MATLAB & Simulink on campus and personal devices. Everyone also now has access to MathWorks online training resources.

Who At Missouri S&T is Impacted?

All students, faculty and staff will see changes to how they use MATLAB & Simulink. Here’s what you need to know:

No More Reservations: All Add-on Toolboxes provided by MathWorks are available for everyone. No more coordinating with Information Technology to maintain lists of researchers and computers for access. No more extra purchases.

Students Get Free Access: Students no longer need to purchase their own copy of MATLAB & Simulink. They can either launch it through AppsAnywhere or install it themselves from the MATLAB Portal on their personal computers.

New Sign-In Process: You will now need to sign-in with your UM System SSO (@umsystem.edu) to launch MATLAB & Simulink. See more on IT Answers.

When Will This Happen?

This transition is ongoing. MATLAB R2024a is the first version that utilizes this new license. We encourage all students, faculty, and staff to upgrade to this version as soon as possible to take advantage of the new benefits now available to them.

What Actions Are Required?

To begin using the new license, you will need to launch MATLAB R2024a or later. Here’s how:

Campus Managed Computer Systems:

Windows: From AppsAnywhere, launch MATLAB R2024a or newer. See how on IT Answers.

MacOS: From Self Service launch MATLAB R2024a or newer. See how on IT Answers.

Linux: Contact the IT Help Desk or submit a request online for installation. Our Research Support team will assist you with upgrading.

HPC: No change is needed. We have done all the work on the backend for you.

Personal Computer Systems:

Students, faculty, and staff who have Windows can get MATLAB R2024a or newer from AppsAnywhere for their personal computers. See how on IT Answers.

All students, faculty, and staff can visit the UM System MATLAB Portal at https://go.mst.edu/get-matlab and sign-in with your UM System SSO (@umsystem.edu) to get access to installation media for your individual license of MATLAB & Simulink. Your license will remain active as long as you are affiliated with the UM System.
